ABOUT US

Do you know that currently there are over 275 Oconee County children removed from their homes? And, 60 Guardian ad Litem (GAL) volunteers are assigned to these children by the family court?

The GAL fulfills two important roles:

1) to act as an investigator for the court.

2) to advocate for the best interests of the child(ren) involved in each court case.

Often, the GAL discovers that their assigned children have no clothes, glasses for improved vision, toiletries, school or sport supplies which are precluded due to county and state budget restraints.

This is when The Friends of GAL of Oconee County intervene. Our amazing 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, founded in 1998, raises funds so these often-neglected children can have their basic needs met.
